Workshop on April 19 on laws protecting against housing discrimination

COLROADO SPRINGS, Colo. –  The City Of Colorado Springs Community Development Division is inviting residents to learn about Fair Housing Rights at a free learning session on Tuesday, April 19 at 6 p.m. at the Southeast YMCA, 2190 Jet Wing Dr.

Attendees will learn how the law protects against housing discrimination and how to get help if you experience illegal discrimination. Presenters include a Colorado Legal Services Fair Housing Attorney and a Denver Metro Fair Housing Testing Coordinator. Resources will be shared by the Pikes Peak Library District's Law Librarian, The Justice Center, Colorado Housing Connects and the City's Community Development Division.

American Sign Language and Spanish translation services will be provided at this event.

Colorado Legal Services is a nonprofit organization helping low-income individuals and seniors in Colorado. The workshop will offer general information for tenants and cannot provide specific legal advice. Low-income residents or senior citizens facing a housing issue can contact Colorado Legal Services at (719) 471-0380 for legal assistance. The Denver Metro Fair Housing Center is a nonprofit organization promoting housing choice through education, advocacy and enforcement of fair housing law.
