COS Airport provides the following documents containing brief descriptions of upcoming airfield projects. They serve to inform Airport Tenants and other Airport User Groups of the general impacts that these projects will have on airfield operations.

Construction Activity Notifications (CANs)

Written notice issued by the Airport to notify stakeholders of construction activity on the airfield that may impact operations. Information includes the location of construction activity, description, start and end date, impact(s) on stakeholder operations and construction management contact information. Most current CANs are listed below by project.

All current projects are paid for with FAA Airport Improvement Program grant funds, CDOT State Aeronautics grant funds, and airport funds.  No tax dollars are used for these projects:

Rehabilitate Taxiway G and Terminal Connectors – Phase 2 (Reconstruct Portions of Taxiway M & G)

This project includes the complete full depth reconstruction of Taxiway M from Taxiway H to the Terminal Apron and Taxiway G from Taxiway M to Taxiway P with a total construction schedule of 150 calendar days. Flatiron Constructor, Inc. was awarded the work for this project on August 7, 2018. The existing sections of taxiway to be replaced include Taxiway M, a 102.5 foot wide taxiway, and Taxiway G, a 75-foot wide taxiway. The existing taxiway pavement section consists of 14” Portland Cement Concrete Pavement (PCC) over 6” Cement Treated Subgrade. The new taxiway pavement section consists of 16” PCC pavement, 6” of asphalt base course, and 6” of crushed aggregate base course. The new 30-foot shoulder section will consist of 4” of bituminous surface course, over 6” crushed aggregate base course, over 10” of aggregate subbase course. Beyond pavement reconstruction, the project also includes installation of new edge drains, taxiway edge lights, guidance signs, and pavement markings.

This project includes two schedules of work. Schedule I, being the reconstruction of Taxiway M was completed in the fall of 2018.  With a duration of 65 days, it began September 4, 2018 and was completed on November 7, 2018. Taxiway M reconstruction included approximately 10,000 SY (4,450 CY) of 16-Inch Portland Cement Concrete Pavement and 4,500 SY of Bituminous Surface Course with a total cost of $3,132,376.50. Schedule I, the reconstruction of Taxiway G, is scheduled to begin April 15, 2019 and includes approximately 25,000 SY (11,115 CY) of 16-Inch Portland Cement Concrete Pavement and 13,000 SY of Bituminous Surface Course with a total cost of $7,477,372.25. The project is scheduled for completion in July of 2019 with a final construction cost of $10,609,748.75.

Rehabilitate Taxiway G and Terminal Connectors – Phase 3 (Reconstruct Portion of Taxiway G)

This project includes the complete full depth reconstruction of Taxiway G from Taxiway P through Taxiway C with a total construction schedule of 130 calendar days. Villalobos Concrete, Inc. was awarded the work for this project on January 16, 2019. The existing sections of taxiway to be replaced include Taxiway G, a 75-foot wide taxiway. The existing taxiway pavement section consists of 14” Portland Cement Concrete Pavement (PCC) over 6” Cement Treated Subgrade. The new taxiway pavement section consists of 16” PCC pavement, 6” of asphalt base course, and 6” of crushed aggregate base course. The new 30-foot shoulder section will consist of 4” of bituminous surface course, over 6” crushed aggregate base course, over 10” of aggregate subbase course. Beyond pavement reconstruction, the project also includes installation of new edge drains, taxiway edge lights, guidance signs, and pavement markings.

This project includes approximately 35,000 SY (15,555 CY) of 16-Inch Portland Cement Concrete Pavement and 20,000 SY of Bituminous Surface Course with a total cost of $10,890,910.20. This project is scheduled for completion in September of 2019.
