On December 8, 2023, at approximately 2:48 PM, members of the Colorado Springs Police Department were dispatched to the intersection of Airport Road and Chelton Road regarding a traffic crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.
The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital. Officers learned when the pedestrian arrived at the hospital, the pedestrian succumbed to their injuries and passed away. The vehicle involved fled the scene.
Due to the nature of the crash, the Major Crash Team was contacted and responded to the scene to assume the investigation. The investigation showed that the pedestrian was crossing Airport Road from the south to the north and may not have been in the crosswalk at the time of the crash. The vehicle was traveling west on Airport Road and continued west after the crash.
On December 11, 2023, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office conducted an autopsy on the deceased pedestrian and identified her as 84-year-old Dolores Holler.
This was the 48th traffic fatality in Colorado Springs in 2023. At the same time in 2022, there were 54 traffic fatalities. In the last 365 days, there have been 50 traffic fatalities.
