On October 21, 2023, at approximately 5:55 PM, officers with the Colorado Springs Police Department responded to the 500 block of South Cedar Street to investigate a stabbing call for service.
When officers responded they located an adult male suffering from at least one stab wound. Despite life-saving efforts by first responders, he succumbed to his injuries. The CSPD Homicide Unit responded and assumed responsibility for the investigation.
On October 23, 2023, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office completed the autopsy of the deceased male, who has been identified as 27-year-old Adonais Gallegos, of Colorado Springs.
While the Coroner’s Office will determine the cause and manner of death, Mr. Gallegos’s death is being investigated as a homicide. 22-year-old Marianna Guerra was arrested and charged with Murder in the 1st Degree. She is being held at the El Paso County Jail.
This is the 27th homicide in the city of Colorado Springs in 2023. At this time last year, there were 40 homicides investigated.
