Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services will begin work to fix a ravine located off Ute Trail in Garden of the Gods Park to improve visitor safety and enhance the natural beauty of the park.
Construction will begin tomorrow, Thursday, March 21 and is expected to run through mid-May.
As part of the project, access to Ute Trail as well as access to climbing on the Slabs/Kindergarten Rock on the south end of Gray Rock and any routes that will require descent in this area will be closed for the duration of the project. A detour for the Ute Trail will be in place to ensure visitor safety during construction. Trail users are asked to follow detour signage and find alternative climbing routes during this time.
During the project, a section of the bike lane on Juniper Way Loop will be impacted at times, closing for short durations. Flaggers will be present during any closures. Cyclists are urged to use extreme caution when merging into the roadway, and motorists are asked to slow their speed and watch for merging bicycles.
There will be no change to park hours during the project and park users are asked to follow all signage.
