As part of the City’s SmartCOS initiative, the Office of Innovation and Sustainability (OIS) encourages private telecommunications providers (Providers) to deploy the necessary infrastructure to ensure all Colorado Springs residents have access to affordable, reliable, and high-quality telecommunications services such as cable television, broadband internet, and wireless coverage.

OIS oversees the City’s Cable Franchise Agreements with Comcast and Falcon Broadband.

OIS works with other City departments and providers to streamline processes for deployment of conduit and fiber-optic cable, small cell nodes, and other telecommunications facilities in the public Rights-of-Way.
