Detectives with the Colorado Springs Police Department Homicide / Assault Unit continued with the investigation into the homicide of 74-year-old Theresa Graham.  On Thursday, March 24, 2022, detectives developed probable cause and obtained an arrest warrant for murder in the first degree for 48-year-old Yeurashka Graham of Colorado Springs.  Mr. Graham was served the arrest warrant while he was already in custody at the El Paso County Jail on a separate incident.

Previous Release

On May 12, 2021, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office completed the autopsy of the deceased person located on May 10 in the 00 block of West Cheyenne Road.  The victim has been identified as 74-year-old Theresa Graham of Colorado Springs. While the Coroner’s Office will make the official cause and manner of death determination, this death is being investigated as a homicide and continues to be an active investigation.  Further details will be released in the future as appropriate.

Ms. Graham’s death is the 16th homicide investigation in the City of Colorado Springs in 2021.  The CSPD investigated 18 homicides at this time last year.

Original Release

On May 10, 2021 at approximately 5:40PM, representatives from the Colorado Springs Fire Department were dispatched to a residence in the 00 block of West Cheyenne Road in response to a reported structure fire. While extinguishing the flames, firefighters located a deceased person in close proximity to the residence.

Given the circumstances, officers from the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) responded to conduct a death investigation. A search of the area determined no additional people were in or near the residence. Representatives from the Violent Crimes Homicide/Assault Unit were contacted and subsequently responded to assume responsibility for the investigation.

While the El Paso County Coroner’s Office will make the official cause and manner of death determination, the death is being investigated as a homicide. This is the 16th homicide investigation in 2021. The CSPD investigated 18 homicides at this time last year.
