Meet your District 2 SRO's
Officer Ryan Knapp
I grew up in an Army family so I grew up living around the world, however, I went to High School and College in Kentucky. After college, I joined the Army and served 4 years in the Military Police Corps. I am a veteran of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
When I got out of the Army, I was a security contractor for the U.S. Government before getting hired by the Colorado Springs Police Department in 2011. I have worked patrol in every division and have also served three years as a detective in the Special Victims Section. I wanted to be a School Resource Officer because it’s a fun and rewarding position. I think it is a good mix of police work and community relations.
When I am not working I enjoy spending time with my family.

Officer Kyla Vanderpool
I was born and raised in Denver, before moving to Colorado Springs to attend University of Colorado, Colorado Springs (UCCS). There I studied Chemistry and Law Enforcement before finishing my bachelor’s degree in criminal justice/ Forensic Science. I started with CSPD in January 2013 as a civilian victim advocate, assisted with the Police Training Academy, and worked the Downtown area cameras. In May 2015 I became a Community Service Officer, until I started the Police Academy in October 2016.
Since becoming a Police Officer I have found that my love and passion lies mental health, crisis, and special populations like children and elderly. I have found myself drawn to specific calls and love to work with individuals that are not always able to share their voice. I began my work with our Community Response Team in 2018 and worked full time on the Team for 3.5 years. I have began my journey as a School Resource Officer in 2023 and am excited to learn from and build relationships with our future generation.
On my days off, I enjoy spending time with my husband and three kiddos. We love to do anything crafty or building, rock-climbing, traveling, reading, and spending time with the rest of our extended family.

Officer Paulette Masias
Hello. I am Officer Paulette Masias. I moved from San Diego California to Colorado Springs in 1996. I’ve been a Police Officer with the Colorado Springs Police Department since 2017. Before becoming a Police Officer, I worked in retail management, 23 years. Like most officer’s I began my career with CSPD working on patrol. In 2019 I took an interest in helping those with mental health issues and became a certified CIT (Crisis Intervention Training) Officer. Shortly after receiving my CIT certification, I became an Officer on the Community Response Team (CRT), a mobile mental health unit. I served on CRT for almost 3 years helping support those in mental health crisis find the services they needed. Then in August of 2023 I became a School Resource Officer for Harrison High School. As a parent myself, I’ve always had an interest in educating and supporting our younger generation so that they can excel and have every opportunity afforded to them. When I'm not working, I spend most of my time with my family doing various activities and just hanging out. I also volunteer on my off time as a Sertoman; fundraising for those at risk or impacted by hearing loss.

Officer James Keith
I was born in Washington State and attended High school in Ohio and went to college in Washington State. I am a fifteen-year Combat Army Veteran with multiple deployments to the Middle East. I joined the Colorado Springs Police Department in 2001 and the School Resource Officer in 2024. I joined the School Resource Officer Unit because children to me are the greatest resources in the world and this community has. I look forward to dedicating my time skills to protect our most precious resource. When I am not working, my time is spent with my family.
