Pikes Peak Regional Law Enforcement Teen Academy
The Colorado Springs Police Department, the Fountain Police Department, and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office are pleased to announce the 5th Annual Pikes Peak Regional Law Enforcement Teen Academy from June 3, 2019 through June 7, 2019.
The Pikes Peak Regional Law Enforcement Teen Academy provides young adults with a unique opportunity to learn about the operations of regional law enforcement agencies in El Paso County. The Colorado Springs Police Department, the Fountain Police Department, and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office are the host agencies for this week-long class. Some of the courses will include jail operations, SWAT, K-9, Explosives Unit, criminal investigations, and search and rescue. Participants will tour the secure areas within the Criminal Justice Center (County Jail), the Evidence Facility and courtrooms at the Terry R. Harris Judicial Complex.
The Academy will run from June 3-9, 2019 from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The classes will take place at the Southeast & Armed services YMCA located at 2190 Jet Wing Drive, Colorado Springs, CO 80916. Interested applicants must be between the ages of 13-17 by May 15, 2019 to be eligible. Applicants must be El Paso County residents and currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a school in El Paso County.
Applications must be printed, completed, and received by Friday, May 15, 2019, at 3:00 PM. Please note the “Academy Participation Liability Waiver and Indemnification Agreement” must be signed in the presence of a Notary Public. Notary Public services for the Teen Academy may be obtained at any of the Colorado Springs Police Department police stations at no cost. Pikes Peak Regional 1st Annual Teen Academy 2.0
The Colorado Springs Police Department and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office are pleased to announce the 1st Annual Teen Academy 2.0 that will take place June 17, 2019 through June 21, 2019.
Teen Academy 2.0 is designed for teens, ages 13-18, who have already attended the Pikes Peak Regional Teen Academy. It provides young adults with a unique opportunity to learn more about the investigative aspect of policing.
Teens will receive both class room and interactive classes on investigation techniques, including interview and interrogation and evidence collection. They will also participate in a mock crime scene and court room testimony. Applications for the 2019 Pikes Peak Regional Law Enforcement Teen Academy are due on May 15, 2019 by 3pm and can be downloaded from the link at the bottom of this page.
Teen Academy 2.0 will run from June 17-21, 2019 from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Classes will take place at the El Paso County Emergency Services Authority, located at 3755 Mark Dabling Boulevard, Colorado Springs, CO 80907 and the Police Operations Center, located at 705 S. Nevada Avenue. To be elegible, applicants must be between the ages of 13-17 by May 15, 2019 and El Paso County residents currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a school in El Paso County.
